The Law NCLB was signed into law on January 8, 2002. This law requires schools to develop ways to increase the quality of instruction and get parents more involved in their child's education and improving their schools.
Assessment Standards have been created in each state that describes what each child should know in reading and math at all grade levels. Each state must test students using these standards as a measure of progress. The tests will help you, your child, and your child's teachers know how well your child is learning and when he or she needs extra help.
School Accountability NCLB holds your school accountable for making sure your child is learning. If your child's school is in need of improvement, and your child qualifies you may be eligible to transfer to another school or receive free tutoring.
